About This Recipe

Making your own skincare is a lot like making your own food: it's fresh, so it doesn't need lots of extra ingredients to preserve it, which leaves room for more goodness for your skin. Rose hydrosol is nurturing and soothing for most skin; she is the queen of flowers for a reason.

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp (1.5 oz) rose hydrosol
  • 1 tbsp (0.5 oz) castile soap
  • ¼ tsp vegetable glycerine
  • 2 drops lavender essential oil
  • 2 drops sweet orange essential oil
  • 2 drops ylang ylang essential oil
Fresh calendula flowers
Fresh & Floral

Directions

  1. Add the castile soap to your pump bottle or mixing bowl.
  2. Add the essential oils and the vegetable glycerine and give it a good stir to combine.
  3. Add the rose hydrosol.
  4. Stir or shake to make sure everything is fully mixed. Label with the date.

To Use

  1. Gently wet your face with warm water.
  2. Place 1–2 droppers full in the palm of your hand and rub your hands together to make a little suds.
  3. Gently wash your face, avoiding the eye area. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.
  4. Follow with toner and a moisturizing face oil like the Calming Face Oil to seal in moisture.

Notes

  • Leave out the essential oils if you don't like them, or use just lavender or just orange.
  • The glycerine is optional, but it acts as a humectant, adds moisture, mellows out the castile soap and adds a softening effect.
  • Because this contains hydrosol and no preservative, keep it in the fridge and make small, fresh batches.
