About This Recipe

I've told you this before: I am a tallow convert. Shea butter still has a place in my heart, but whipped tallow is now a staple in my cabinet and my skincare ritual. Frankincense and lavender cover the bases of skin's needs and add potent plant soothing love.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup grass-fed tallow (3.5 oz)
  • 1 tbsp organic extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp golden jojoba oil
  • 6 drops lavender essential oil
  • 6 drops frankincense essential oil
Whipped tallow face balm texture
Soft & Nourished

Directions

  1. Combine everything except the essential oils in a double boiler and gently melt over low heat. It melts fast, so keep an eye on it.
  2. Place in the fridge until solid.
  3. Remove from the fridge and whip it up.
  4. Once whipped, stir or whip in the essential oils.
  5. Scoop into glass containers and label.

To Use

  1. After cleansing your face and using toner or essence, take a small amount.
  2. Gently massage or tap it into skin.
  3. Use morning and night, or just at night as a night cream. Find what works best for your skin.

Notes

  • Lavender swap: if you have a lavender allergy or don't want to use it, geranium offers many of the same soothing, skin-loving benefits.
  • Olive oil swap: double the jojoba, or use almond or apricot oil. For a real treat, use rosehip seed oil.
  • You can adjust the essential oils to suit your skin.
