I’ve told you this before I am a tallow convert. Shea butter still has a place in my heart and my recipes but whipped tallow is now a staple in my cabinet and in my skincare ritual.
You can buy this exact Whipped Tallow Face Balm in my shop or make it using the recipe below.
Whipped Tallow Face Balm Recipe
½ cup Grass Fed Tallow (3.5 ounces)
1 tbs Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 tbs Golden Jojoba Oil
Essential Oils
6 drops Lavender
6 drops Frankincense
Combine all the ingredients, except the essential oils in a double boiler and gently melt over low heat. It will melt pretty fast, so keep an eye on it.
Place in the fridge until it is solid. Remove it from the fridge and then whip it up. Once it's whipped, stir (or whip) in the essential oils. Scoop into glass containers.
Store in a cool, dark place or use amber jars to bottle it up.
You can adjust the essential oils, but I found that the combo of frankincense and lavender covers the bases of skin’s needs and adds potent plant soothing and wrinkle reducing love. If you have a lavender allergy or don't want to use lavender, geranium is a great swap that offers many of the same soothing, skin loving benefits.
After cleansing your face and using toner or essence apply a small amount of whipped tallow balm by gently massaging or tapping into skin. You can use this whipped tallow balm everyday morning and night or you could just use at night as a night cream. Find what works best for your skin.
