About This Recipe

If you love baking and decorating cupcakes with fun swirls of icing AND you love having soft skin, then you are going to love making this body butter. It is so pretty when it's all swirled together with big silky ribbony waves of body butter.

The vanilla scent in this is optional, the cocoa butter has a soft and rich scent all its own and leaves skin so silky soft.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Measure the Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Coconut Oil and Apricot Oil into a double boiler. (Save the Rosehip Oil for after everything is whipped). Gently warm until just melted.
  2. Add the one tablespoon of Rosehip Oil and stir to combine.

  3. Place the bowl in the refrigerator until it is solid but still a little soft. This takes about 20 to 30 min. Once it is solid, remove it from the refrigerator. If it's too solid, let it warm up a little before mixing.

Add in the essential oils and the vegetable glycerine.

  4. Add the vanilla extract and then using a stick blender or hand held blender, whip the body butter oil mixture until it is smooth and well blended. It will change consistency and become light and fluffy as it gets whipped.

  5. To one half of the body butter, add the mica powder by gently placing into the body butter and folding it in to combine, avoiding having the powder fly around into the air. Be extra careful and wear a mask for this part. Once mica is mixed in it is safe, we just want to avoid breathing in the mica powder. Whip to fully mix in the mica.

  6. To the other half of the body butter, add the cocoa powder, whip it into the body butter.

  7. For this next step, each half of the body butter is placed onto a piece of parchment paper (or saran wrap) and then rolled up and placed into the piping bag.

  8. Cut a piece of parchment paper (or saran wrap) that is a little longer than your piping bag. Scoop one of the body butter portions onto the paper lengthwise. Then scoop the next portion along side the first portion, so that they are lined up together. Carefully roll the body butter log together and twist the ends of the log closed. Snip one end. Place the end you have snipped into the piping bag and fill your jars.

Tips for Success

  • Be sure to get sustainably sourced Micah!
  • Don't overfill your piping bag, squeeze out all the extra air and then twist the top closed for easy piping.
