You know I love a good body scrub and this one sooo good. It's light and fluffy, smells warm and invigorating and leaves skin smooth and moisturized.
Autumn Spice Whipped Body Scrub
1 cup Shea Butter
2 tbs Apricot Oil
1 cup Sea Salt
1 tsp Cinnamon
1 tsp Ginger
¼ tsp Cardamom
5 drops Cinnamon Essential Oil
5 drops Ginger Essential Oil
Place the shea butter and apricot oil in a double boiler and melt slowly over low heat.
Once melted remove it from the heat and place it in the fridge to cool it down quickly. This step helps prevent the shea from blooming later on. Shea bloom is when it crystallizes and forms little beads of fat, they are harmless but take away from the smooth texture.
Once the shea butter and apricot oil are solid, remove from the fridge and whip. The mixture should solid but not rock hard, that makes it hard to whip. Keep whipping using a hand blender or immersion blender.
Once it’s fully whipped add in the sea salt and stir to fully combine into the whipped shea. Next
add in the cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom powder and stir well to combine. Then add in the essential oils.
Scoop into a clean pint size mason jar with a lid. Store in a cool, dry place and keep it free of water to keep it fresh and shelf stable.
Use by gently massaging a small amount of the body scrub over skin, especially focusing on rough and dry areas. Rinse clean with warm water.
Tips;
Use a clean spoon to scoop out what you need, this helps keep the body scrub fresh and uncontaminated longer.
If kept free of water and stored properly this will stay fresh for 6months. If you notice any strange odors or colors, discard it.
Salt and sugars are often too coarse for the more delicate skin of your face so just use the body scrub on your body. But if you want a more exfoliating effect, you can use a combo of sugar and salt or use a coarser salt.
