All-Purpose Herbal Healing Salve – Make It or Buy a Jar

Our Go-To Healing Balm

This is our family’s everyday healing salve — perfect for cuts, scrapes, itchy bug bites, chapped lips, dry knuckles, and more. It’s full of powerful skin-soothing herbs and gentle enough for the whole family.

Herbs like Calendula, Plantain, and Lavender are known for their calming and antimicrobial properties, while Echinacea gives this salve an extra immune-supporting kick for minor skin flare-ups and blemishes.

How to Make the Herbal Oil Infusion

Herbs You'll Need:

Slow Infusion Method
  1. Place herbs in a clean pint-size mason jar and fill to the top with olive oil.
  2. Ensure the herbs are completely submerged in oil, then seal with a lid.
  3. Let infuse in a warm, dark place for 6 weeks, shaking occasionally.
  4. Strain through cheesecloth or a fine strainer into a clean glass jar.
Quick Infusion Method
  1. Place herbs and olive oil in a clean mason jar (same ratios as above).
  2. Place jar into a slow cooker filled with water, halfway up the jar.
  3. Warm on low for 48 hours — keep an eye on the temperature so the herbs don’t overheat or burn.
  4. Alternatively, infuse directly in the crock pot if it runs cool — just monitor carefully.
  5. Strain when finished into a clean, tightly-lidded jar.
🌿 Making extra infused oil? Store any leftovers in a cool, dark place for up to a year and use in other herbal body care recipes.
