All-Purpose Herbal Healing Salve – Make It or Buy a Jar

Our Go-To Healing Balm

This is our family’s everyday healing salve — perfect for cuts, scrapes, itchy bug bites, chapped lips, dry knuckles, and more. It’s full of powerful skin-soothing herbs and gentle enough for the whole family.

Herbs like Calendula, Plantain, and Lavender are known for their calming and antimicrobial properties, while Echinacea gives this salve an extra immune-supporting kick for minor skin flare-ups and blemishes.

How to Make the Herbal Oil Infusion

Herbs You'll Need:

Slow Infusion Method
  1. Place herbs in a clean pint-size mason jar and fill to the top with olive oil.
  2. Ensure the herbs are completely submerged in oil, then seal with a lid.
  3. Let infuse in a warm, dark place for 6 weeks, shaking occasionally.
  4. Strain through cheesecloth or a fine strainer into a clean glass jar.
Quick Infusion Method
  1. Place herbs and olive oil in a clean mason jar (same ratios as above).
  2. Place jar into a slow cooker filled with water, halfway up the jar.
  3. Warm on low for 48 hours — keep an eye on the temperature so the herbs don’t overheat or burn.
  4. Alternatively, infuse directly in the crock pot if it runs cool — just monitor carefully.
  5. Strain when finished into a clean, tightly-lidded jar.
🌿 Making extra infused oil? Store any leftovers in a cool, dark place for up to a year and use in other herbal body care recipes.

Healing Salve Ingredients

How to Make the Salve

  1. Step One – Melt: In a double boiler, combine the herbal oil and beeswax. Heat gently until fully melted.
  2. Step Two – Cool Slightly: Remove from heat and stir in Jojoba Oil, Vitamin E, and essential oils.
  3. Step Three – Pour: Quickly pour into clean tins or jars while still liquid.
  4. Step Four – Label: Add a label with the ingredients and the date.

Storage, Shelf Life & Notes

Yield

  • Makes approximately 1 cup of salve — enough to fill several 2 oz tins or jars.

Shelf Life

  • With proper storage, this oil-based salve lasts 2–3 years.
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight with the lid tightly closed.

Final Tips

  • Have your jars or tins ready before melting the beeswax — it sets quickly!
  • This salve is perfect to keep in your car, diaper bag, or backpack.

Will this help psoriasis? I have a bro-n-law has plaque psoriasis all over. And currently his wife on hospice. Now all is severely flared up. Will this help is psoriasis settle down or cure it? I see many advertisements saying their salves with cure psoriasis. Is this true and if so is this a benefit of yours

Where can I purchase quality herbs from? I have eczema. and traditional medicines always work. I am interested in making my own salve or oil and this seems to be a good option. But of course I don't want to just put anything on my face or my body so if there's a company that you would recommend, I would appreciate it. Thank you so much.
