About This Recipe

If you love baking and decorating cupcakes with fun swirls of icing AND you love having soft skin, you are going to love making this body butter. It's so pretty swirled together in big, silky, ribbony waves, and the cocoa butter has a soft, rich scent all its own that leaves skin silky soft.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup cocoa butter
  • ¼ cup coconut oil (solid, not liquid)
  • ¼ cup shea butter
  • ¼ cup apricot oil
  • 1 tbsp rosehip oil
  • 10 drops vanilla extract (optional)
  • ½ tsp bronze mica
  • 1 tsp cocoa powder

Directions

  1. Measure the cocoa butter, shea butter, coconut oil and apricot oil into a double boiler (save the rosehip oil). Gently warm until just melted.
  2. Add the rosehip oil and stir to combine.
  3. Refrigerate until solid but still a little soft, about 20–30 minutes. If it's too solid, let it warm up a little before mixing.
  4. Add the vanilla extract, then whip with a stick or hand blender until smooth, light and fluffy.
  5. Scoop half of the body butter into a second bowl.
  6. To one half, gently fold in the mica, keeping the powder from flying into the air (wear a mask for this part), then whip to fully mix it in.
  7. To the other half, add the cocoa powder and whip it in.
  8. Cut a piece of parchment paper (or plastic wrap) a little longer than your piping bag. Scoop the two halves onto it side by side, lengthwise, roll it into a log and twist the ends closed.
  9. Snip one end, place the snipped end into the piping bag and pipe into your jars. Label.

To Use

  1. Scoop a small amount with clean, dry fingers.
  2. Massage into skin for silky softness.

Notes

  • The vanilla scent is optional; the cocoa butter has a soft, rich scent all its own.
  • Once the mica is mixed in it's safe; you just want to avoid breathing in the loose powder.
  • Use any piping tip you like.
