Midnight Forest Body Butter Recipe

Midnight Forest Body Butter Recipe

A spruce infused body butter to nurture your skin and lift your spirits.

During the colder months of winter, it is the conifers that continue to stand tall and green, reminding us that life continues through the darkness of winter and that summer will, eventually return.

The base of this body butter is the Spruce Infused Oil and it creates a grounding and calming base.  When whipped into a body butter it creates forest silk for your skin. Use the spruce body scrub and then follow with this spruce infused body butter and your skin and spirit will be soothed.

We have fallen so in love with these recipes that we’ve shared for the spruce lotion bar, the spruce body butter, and the body scrub that we have combined them together into the Winter Evergreen Bundle…..a sweet little trio to bring the fresh scent of the forest to your mind, body, and skin.

Spruce is also a source of Vitamin C and antioxidants which are soothing, brightening, and healing for skin. They also have antiseptic and anti fungal properties which can help to treat acne and minor skin irritations. Spruce also have mild analgesic and anti inflammatory properties which can be helpful for soothing sore muscle aches and pains.

The Spruce Oil for this can be replaced with other conifer oils like White Pine and Douglas Fir. Just make sure you know what you are harvesting and that you are gathering from a clean place. In general it is best to stay away from roadsides and places with heavy exhaust, so put on your hiking boots and go find a tree in the forest or field (but of course from a place that you can harvest legally).

Midnight Forest Body Butter

½ cup Spruce Infused Oil

¾ cup Shea Butter

¼ Coconut Oil

15 drops Orange Essential Oil

15 drops Black Spruce Essential Oil

15 drops Frankincense Essential Oil

  1. Measure the spruce oil, shea butter, coconut oil into a double boiler. Gently warm until just melted.

  2. Remove from heat.

  3. Place the bowl in the refrigerator until it is solid. Once it is solid, remove it from the refrigerator. If it's too solid, let it warm up a little before mixing.

  4. Using a stick blender, whip the butter oil mixture until it is smooth and well blended. It will change consistency and become light and fluffy.

  5. Once it’s fully whipped, add the essential oils and stir well or whip some more to combine.

  6. Scoop into clean jars.

Enjoy!!
