Cleansing oils are best used at the end of the day to cleanse away excess sebum, grime, makeup, and dirt that has built up over the day.
They do not strip the skin of the good bacteria that helps keep the skin mantle balanced. They bind to the oils of the skin and pull excess oils from pores, providing a deep cleaning without stripping the face of its oils, so it leaves the skin barrier protected and moisturized.
All skin is different, some skin types will benefit from oil cleansing everyday, some may do better with a once a week deep cleaning. Just give it time and watch how your skin is reacting and adjust your cleansing routine accordingly. Often when introducing a new step in skincare, skin may go through an adjustment period.
With oil cleansing some skin types may have a week or so of rebalancing, where breakouts occur, before the skin settles into the new routine. Again pay attention to your skin’s needs and keep track of when you add new steps into your skincare routine.
Rosehip Cleansing Oil Recipe
You could replace half of the jojoba oil with castor oil, which is a more astringent oil, if your skin tends to the oily side.
You can also skip the essential oils if you like, but orange and chamomile are gently cleansing, balancing, and uplifting for the spirits.
