Rose Face Butter Recipe

There is a reason that roses are the queen of beauty. It seems in her royal plant wisdom she understands exactly what skin needs and in the gentlest of ways can deliver it Roses are good for all skin types, from sensitive skin to acne prone skin to maturing skin, she’s got a beauty secret that she is willing to whisper for everyone.

They contain vitamin c and a, they are known to help boost collagen and reduce wrinkles. They are soothing and gentle to upset skin and sensitive skin. They contain antioxidants which feed the skin and are antibacterial which can help to cleanse the skin and balance out acne.

The first step in this recipe is to make the rose infused oil. Rose oil is one part dried organic rose petals that have been steeped in a carrier oil (like apricot oil) for 6 weeks and then strained. You can also use the quick method, which slowly but more quickly heats the oil using a crock pot. Here are more detailed directions for making the Rose Infused Herbal Oil.

Make sure you use rose petals that are dried and organic. Mountain Rose Herbs is a good source. If you harvest your own, just make sure they have not been treated or sprayed with anything.

Rose Face Butter Recipe

1 cup Shea Butter
1 cup Rose Oil
2 tbs Argan Oil
2 tbs Rosehip Oil
1/2 teaspoon Sea Buckthorn Oil
40 drops Rose Absolute Essential Oil (*optional)

Directions to Make Rose Face Butter

Combine the shea butter, rose oil, argan oil, rosehip oil, and sea buckthorn oils into a double boiler and heat over low heat until completely melted. (Do not add the rose absolute essential oil, that comes last).

Place the bowl in the refrigerator to let the oils solidify. This also helps cool the shea butter quickly so that it doesn’t form little beads of shea butter in your rose face butter. This is harmless but cooling shea quickly prevents it from “blooming” or crystalizing in your face butter weeks or months later.

Once the shea butter and oil mixture begins to solidify, remove it from the fridge. If you left it in there too long and it is rock hard, then just wait for the oils to come to room temp and soften a bit.

Using a bowl mixer or stick blender, whip the shea butter and oil mix until it is smooth, silky, and whipped. This can take a few minutes. Just keep whipping, it will eventually whip into a smooth, creamy texture.

Once it's well whipped, add in the rose absolute essential oil.

This recipe makes about 8 ounces and will stay fresh for up to a year. But you’ll use it up before then.

I am just curious if the amount of rose oil could be a typo? Or have I done something wrong🤦🏼‍♀️? I put my melted Shea butter and rose oil in the fridge to cool. I left it overnight since it hadn’t firmed up enough before I went to bed. It was still super soft when I took it out the next morning. When I started whipping it it never would whip. It was like a pudding consistency. Is it supposed to be that soft? I just don’t want to waste my rose oil, to heck with the shea butter 😄. Thanks for any advice!!

It is a pretty soft final product, but
I am wondering if the brand of shea butter you're using is softer than the one I use (this has happened to me before). Maybe add more shea and remelt and whip. God luck!
