A warm bath on a cold winter night is soothing to the nervous system and warming to our bodies and using a magnesium bath bomb with grounding essential oils makes it even better. Magnesium helps muscles to relax and is often used topically to treat muscular aches and encourage a better night’s sleep, soaking in a warm bath or even a foot bath is a relaxing and soothing way to ease a tired body and mind and encourage deeper more restful sleep.
Magnesium Bath Bombs.
1 cup Baking Soda
½ cup Magnesium Flakes
½ cup Citric Acid
½ cup Cornstarch
1 tbs Jojoba Oil
8 drops Lavender Essential Oil
4 drops Cedarwood Essential Oil
3 drops Frankincense Essential Oil
Sprinkles of dried Roses and Lavender
Soap molds
Spray bottle with Witch Hazel
*optional gloves
Directions to Make
Sprinkle a few dried lavender and roses into the molds you are using and set the mold aside.
Combine all the powdered ingredients and magnesium flakes into a mixing bowl.
Put the essential oil into the jojoba oil and stir to combine, then drizzle this over the combined powders and magnesium flakes and stir well to incorporate it into the powders.
Next spray just a few spritzes of witch hazel into the mixing bowl and whisk to combine. After every couple of spritzes test the mixture to see if it's ready to stick together by squeezing it in your hand. If you have sensitive skin, you may want to wear gloves for this part. When it sticks together into a little ball it's ready to put into the molds.
Scoop into molds, press down, and scoop more into the molds. Press and pack down the mixture into the molds so it is packed tight and full.
Set aside for 24 hours or overnight to let the bath bombs set up and harden in their molds.
When they are ready, remove them from the molds and store them in an airtight container until they are ready to use.
Traditional bath bombs can be used in place of heart shaped molds, but I think soap molds are easier to work with, because you can really pack down the bath bomb.
Enjoy!
