Brighten Up Balm Recipe

Brighten Up Balm Recipe

I made this Brighten Up Balm to be used daily to help lighten and brighten the skin, especially the places like the tops of hands, shoulders, forearms, and decolletage. I used ingredients that are known to soothe and nurture skin that has spent the years outside under the sun, it helps to restore skin and lighten and brighten sun spots.

It's one of the more complicated recipes I make so if you rather buy The Brighten Up Balm that it make I have it for sale in my shop. Everything you need to make you can purchase through Mountain Rose Herbs.

That's an affiliate link, so if you purchase through there I get a small little bit back, which helps me be able to continue to share these recipes.

Herbal Infused Oil

Rosehips 1p (4gram)

Comfrey leaf 1/2p

Calendula 1/2p

Horsetail 1/2p

Gotu Kola 1/4p

Licorice Rt 1/4p

Nettles       1/2p

Apricot Oil (to cover)

The first step is to make the Herbal Infused Oil

I like the slow method but there are quicker methods if you are in a pinch and need an herbal infused oil faster.

The slow method is favored among many because it does not use a high heat to infuse the herbs. High heat is thought to destroy some of the more delicate medicinal properties of the herbs and of the oils. This might be better for something like roses, that are so delicate to begin with.

Fill a clean glass jar half full with your dried herb or herbs. A pint size jar would work well for this recipe, but you could always infuse more oil and use as a body oil or as a base for other body products.

1. Measure your herbs into a clean glass jar and pour apricot oil over the herbs and fill to the top of the jar. Make sure to fill the jar to top.

2. Cover with a tight fitting lid.

3. Label with the date and the ingredients.

4. Store in a warm, dark cabinet for 6 weeks. (Some folks like to infuse on a sunny window sill, but I prefer the dark cabinet) And shake daily with a little love.

5. In 6 weeks strain through a funnel lined with a coffee filter or cheesecloth into a clean glass jar. And label your jar. Now it’s ready to use in the recipe below.

Brighten Up Balm

Shea Butter  0.4oz

Herbal Infused Oil 2.6oz

Beeswax  0.4oz

Rosehip Seed Oil  0.3oz

Sea Buckthorn Oil 0.5g

4 drops Frankincense Essential Oil

8 drops Rose Absolute Oil

Scale

Double Boiler

Clean Glass Jars

Directions to Make

Measure your herbal oil, beeswax and shea butter into a double boiler and gently melt over low heat. Once melted remove from heat and add in the rosehip seed oil, sea buckthorn oil and stir well to combine. Then add in the essential oils and stir well to combine.

Pour into clean glass (heat proof) jars and place the jars in the refrigerator to solidify.

Once solid remove the jars from the refrigerator and place a lid and label on your jars.

Use this lovely balm on tops of hands, shoulders, forearms, neck and anywhere that needs a little lightening and brightening. With consistent use it can help to lighten sun spots and is also healing and rejuvenating for skin. It helps to nurture and restore and feed the skin with oils and herbs that are known for graceful aging, restorative properties, and lightening and brightening the skin.

Enjoy!
